Chronicle: The Tripod to Replace Them All
Better weather is upon us and we are here for it. With better weather comes a new set of opportunities and environments to capture. As excited as we are, we understand that as fast as seasons come..they go. Make the most of it this year by investing in gear that works with you. Our Chronicle Tripod was designed to help you consolidate your gear and refine your workflow.
Thoughtful Design
Anyone who shoots photo and video understands that small obstacles with your gear can literally prevent you from getting certain shots. It sounds completely ridiculous but it’s true. Sometimes the smallest obstacles to setting up a shot will prevent you from even trying to take it.
That is where the Chronicle comes in. It just makes things…easier. Yes, that’s a bold claim, but after using it for the past couple years it has become clear that all of its unique features truly set it apart.
The number one thing that I find myself using is the tabletop tripod aka Flexor aka handheld stabilizer. Getting ground level is a consistent part of my workflow. Low shots are great for making subjects appear larger and being able to pop the center column out and get your camera ground level in a second is just awesome. While the tripod legs themselves can get you to some seriously low working heights (approximately 8 inches) it’s nice to be able to get low with speed. At the same time you can take the center column out and set it up on a desk or switch from a locked off shot to handheld without making any changes to your gear and without needing to adjust any legs. It’s just flat out fast.
The head itself provides another unique feature that also improves the speed of your workflow. Remove the camera using the included Q/R plate in seconds and with the rotation of a knob you can go from using a mirrorless camera to mounting your smartphone with the integrated phone clamp (p.s. please remove camera before switching to phone mode). This is great for photographers or videographers that want to get behind the scenes footage or film themselves in the field. You don't need two separate tripods to accomplish this.
It’s worth noting that although you have the ability to switch between the two modes, you are not sacrificing any of the capacity of the head. The Chronicle still boasts a 22 pound weight capacity. I’ve run this tripod with a sony a7siii in a cage, 70-200mm, v-mount battery, monitor, etc. and it handled it flawlessly. When you’re all set with your heavy rig you can instantly switch to your phone. There’s no sacrificing, regardless of what gear you are running.
Certain situations call for added flexibility and mobility. That’s where the monopod comes into play. By untwisting one of the Chronicle’s legs, removing the 3-leg base from the head, and then combining the leg and the head together you get a full size monopod. Oh and the 3-leg base can be used on the monopod for added stability! This is great if you need something extremely lightweight but still require the added stability of a monopod
Who’s it For?
Well anyone really! Yeah, that’s too vague, but seriously the Chronicle is at home in numerous environments. I think it really shines for people looking to refine their kit and use gear that solves a problem. That problem being too much gear. By combining multiple pieces of equipment into one you no longer need to lug additional gear with you allowing you to focus on creating images. Whether you’re in a studio, out in the woods, shooting video, shooting photo, the Chronicle can help bolster your creativity.
