Introducing Pure Light and Basis Filters

Introducing Pure Light and Basis Filters

We all know how important it is to have the right filter on your lens to capture the image you have in mind. You might know the difference between VND, CPL, and Protection filters (and if you don’t, click on over to this blog to get caught up), but have you considered what different filter lines mean for your image capture?

As a review, let’s start at the top. ProMaster’s HGX Prime line of filters is popular with professionals, and for good reason. This line of filters boasts Repellamax II coatings, and ultra-hardened optical glass for an extremely sharp image and protection against moisture, oil, dirt, and dust . HGX Prime filters transmit 99.2% of light to your camera for excellent images in any condition and transmit brilliant light to achieve the clearest image possible.

ProMaster recently introduced two new lines of filters: Pure Light and Basis. These filter lines were designed and tested using the latest technology for improved image capture. What does that mean for you? Let’s delve into these filter lines.

Pure Light

Pure Light filters have an extremely high light transmission and low light reflectivity, thanks to a special combination of hydrophobic coatings and finely polished Schott B270™ optical glass. The hydrophobic multi-coatings mean these filters are resistant to oil, water, and fingerprints - ensuring clear image capture. These filters are made in Japan, home to the very best polishing techniques, coating formulas, and unmatched attention to detail. Pure Light filters are available as Circular Polarizing (CPL) and Protection filters.

Pure Light CPL filters use high-transmission film, with an impressive average light transmittance of 42.9%! With 12 coatings to achieve extremely high levels of light transmission along with low reflectivity and glare, use this CPL filter to control reflections, reduce glare, and improve color saturation and contrast. Find out more about how to use a CPL filter to manipulate the light in your images.

Before and after using the Pure Light CPL filter.

When it comes to protecting your lens, a valuable investment, we recommend adding a Protection filter. Pure Light Protection filters protect your valuable lens against the elements such as sand, dirt, oil, water, and even fingerprints without sacrificing clarity or interfering with the natural light transmitted to your camera.

Pure Light CPL and Protection filters are available in these sizes (mm): 46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77, 82, 95

Basis

Constructed from polished optical glass with a special muli-coating formula, Basis filters represent a terrific value while delivering great results. These filters are great for the beginner photographer looking to create beautiful images without breaking the bank.

Basis filters are available as CPL and Protection filters. Use a Basis CPL to remove or control reflections, improve contrast and saturation, or darken blue skies. And use a Basis Protection filter to, well, protect your lens, while transmitting a clear, sharp image to your camera’s digital sensor or film.

Basis CPL and Protection filters are available in these sizes (mm): 46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77, 82
